Updated 2026-08-21 · First Aid Training Newcastle
For most industrial and site-based roles around the Hunter the certificate asked for is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, refreshed with the CPR unit annually. The practical session is 3 hours, the theory is online and done in your own time, so it fits a roster better than most training does.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, 3 hours, includes the CPR unit and covers bleeding, wounds, burns and fractures alongside cardiac and medical emergencies — the range that actually matters in an industrial setting. Defibrillator use is included within the CPR component.
Some sites and principal contractors specify more than HLTAID011 for particular roles, or for remote work. That requirement comes from the site, so check before booking if you have been asked for something specific.
Only the practical session is scheduled. Do the online component across days off or quiet shifts, then attend one 3-hour session. The statement of attainment is issued the same day, so there is no waiting period to plan around afterwards.
If you are on a rotating roster, book the practical for a day you are definitely not on — rescheduling a practical is more disruptive than doing the theory late.
Site inductions generally check the unit code and the completion date. First aid is usually treated as current for three years with CPR refreshed annually, and an expired date can delay a start regardless of your actual competence.
Keep a photo of the statement of attainment on your phone. It shows the unit code, the date and the issuing RTO, which is what an inductor needs to see.
Second Floor, 376 Hunter Street, in the Newcastle CBD — close to the Newcastle Interchange and the light rail, so it works whether you are coming in by train or driving. Students come in from Hamilton, Charlestown, Kotara, Wallsend, Maitland, Cardiff, Belmont, Raymond Terrace and around Lake Macquarie.
If you have a crew or a shift to get through, get in touch rather than booking individually. We can arrange a session and invoice the business. Each person needs their own Unique Student Identifier before a certificate can be issued.
